I wanted to read this book because the person who shot John Lennon didn't have any thing except this book "The Catcher in the Rye" in his pocket. So I thought there must be something unique about it (thought the book provoked him), to be frank there is nothing special about it. Does any one feel differently about this book? Am I missing something?

I have not missed something in the book. To tell you the truth, I have missed the book entirely.
