Update on my job situation

While I did not lose my job as I anticipated last week, I am now working part-time. 50% work and 50% pay.
For me, it is a blessing in disguise, as this would give me time to focus on the all important interviews that will start in September.

Analysis of the posts

Communist theory says that disparities in distribution of wealth lead to widening of the class divide and ultimately result in the uprising (revolution) of the downtrodden.
Do you think that it is true? Is my meaning clear?do you think it is going to happen?
Will the proletariat rise and seize power?

Some Healthy Competition

TO spur some healthy competition among the fellow bloggers, I have added two widgets to the blog. One lists the number of comments each person made, while another lists the blog posts by a label. I have pre-created some tags but I have not yet applied them to all the posts. In a few days, I expect the labeling to be complete.

A request to future authors. Please add appropriate labels to your posts. You can see them at the bottom of the post, where there is a place to enter "
Labels for this post" . You can click on the "Show all" to see all existing tags. You can enter new tags by directly typing the tag into the box.

I am still trying to get the widget that will show authors but no luck so far.

Let us see the numbers!!!!!!!

Looooooooooong Post

Well, well. Lot to share but so little time. Lot of things happening here but things moving at such break neck pace, I don't have time to even break my neck.

Of course, the posts from atta, sasanna and kupanna are, much like water in oasis, a welcome relief in my daily hectic life.

So before anyone can accuse me of completely disappearing, here it goes.
1) Aditya had his first "test". Aditya got admission in Challenger after passing an "admission test" with 95%. THERE! I have officially become the mom obsessed with exams, grades and percentages. He starts this school in August. It is basically an Indian school with 95% student body being "desis", as we are fondly called here, except for the corporeal punishment part. Bandedu homework, prati vaaram unit tests.

2) Aditya entered his first competition. He entered the BATA kids talent competition for 4-7 year old age group, the only 4-yr old participant. He did not win a prize but was very rational about it. In his own words, "Awwwwwwwwwww. I did not win this time. Next time I will practice more and sing really well. The people who won practiced a lot more.". He is very enthused about learning Karnatic music after the competition. Await the Video shortly.

3)I will probably lose my job by the end of this week. Being in the marketing department means your job will be the first on line if things get dicey, so I have to get used to these kind of affairs. I was planning to quit in June to focus on my post MBA job search anyways, so this just acclerated that decision by about 3-months.

4) I am exploring a possible business idea of mine and I am working on it as part of my entreprenuership class. If it works out, well and good. Otherwise it will be a good end-to-end experience.

5) My classwork is keeping me extremely busy. The first is the entreprenuership class, where we essentially do everything needed to start a company, right from finding the idea to finding the customers, estimating costs and pitching the idea to venture capitalists to raise money. It is extremely intense, a boat load of work but tons of fun. My other class is Game Theory, where we play "games". For example, our class was the OPEC cartel last week, where we had to come to a collective agreement on how much oil to produce to keep the oil price high. Very Capitalistic.

6) I did a consulting project to Visa, where I pitched them an idea on how Visa can make money from the allowance parents give their kids. The company loved that idea. I KNOW, I am joining the corporate baddies!!!!

7) I am going to China for 2 weeks for a class trip, from June 1 - June 15. I will post details of my trip when I am back.

8) We currently have a cook who cooks very well, except she comes and cooks once a week and we eat that for the whole week. She makes awesome sweets. Oh, did I mention she is a Pakistani? But she is a very nice lady and Aditya likes her beans kura and bendakai. She is a big fan of Hindi music and I gave her about 200 hindi songs which made her extremely happy.

Phewww! That was a long post. No wonder I am getting only getting about 5 hours of sleep per night.

While I may not post very actively for the next couple of months as I finish school work, work on my business idea and search for new jobs, be rest assured that I will be reading all the posts on the blog, so keep their refreshing posts coming.

Happy Anniversary!

Going by Auckland time (which I monitor nowadays for obvious reasons), it is now the 25th of March already. So a very Happy Anniversary, N babai and G Pinni!

MARRIAGE PICS of Sasidhar & Madhu

Hello all...

Well, nowadays lot of my esteemed family members seem to be talking back & forth about 'silence' - in very 'strident' tones indeed.
So Narsim babai, atha, anna, Krupa, et al, let me contribute to punctuating the said silence with something that several of the family have been asking about...
A marriage album that might be of interest can be found at this link: http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=275445251/a=162511817_52605991/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish

Meanwhile, congratulations to babai and pinni on their 27th anniversary! Some birthdays also, I seem to have just missed, being away from the post - so best wishes for those.
Even heartier cogratulations to Swati on her recent release from the Nellore Confinement camp!
And a round of thanks (goes without saying, but let me say it anyway) to all - for their very affectionate welcome of madhu into the family fold, in last month's trips!...

Hope to see many of you in Kavali/Tirupati soon then!

-Sasidhar, Madhu & Amma

Disappointed

the pioneer Krupa completely gayab
the soul sln sulking
the ray of hope kuppayya carrying the mantle
all the other jonior singampallis busy or tastes differ
may be think it out of place
srn sgk off and on appearance
OH!what astate of affairs!
quite disappointing!
With a strong request for revival of hectic activity

Follower.

Me and the silence!!
Well, let's say that I am following the group policy of using it as Subhakankshalu programme.
If most have nothing at all to communicate, why should I be garrulous???
ps: if both the krups are inclined to verbosity, they are welcome to it.
I also shall lean back, read and enjoy with a beatific smile.

27

27 are the stars in the Zodiac.
27 th is the year of marriage into which they are entering.
Let us wish them another eventful cycle of 27.
It will bring in lots of joys and new members and their family will expand.
Many Many Happy Returns Of The Anniversary---SRN and Durga.
(tho' signed Gowri, this comes from SLN too)

MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY

Benefits of reading!

Since the time babai scared the living daylights out of me about Diabetes, I have managed to keep my diet under control. The exception was 2 Sundays ago, when Durga pinni served a 'light' lunch comprising of

a) 2 kuras
b) pappu
c) charu
d) curd and
e) rasmalai (Kanth's contribution from the local sweet shop)

"emi ledu bujji, koddige chesaale", she said, thus proving herself to be a master of the understatement.

With this heightened awareness of Diabetes (DM), I naturally picked up a leaflet on DM at the Wokhardt hospital for casual reading, as I waited in the reception area one cold evening. I was there to help out a colleague who had a medical emergency in the family.

As I read the booklet, I discovered to my horror that I seemed to be richly endowed with most of the symptoms of DM. As if to rub salt into the wound (or perhaps, sugar into the bloodstream), the booklet also took particular joy in describing the various maladies that one can develop with DM.

But then, I remembered another gentleman, whose rich imagination led him to believe he has all the diseases listed in the Medical dictionary (except for Housemaid's knee). And I decided to follow the advice he had got from his doctor: "don't stuff up your head with things you don't understand". Thus, I restored a measure of calm to myself and exited cheerfully from that medical mausoleum.

So whoever said 'Truth imitates fiction' sure got it right. Thank you, Jerome K Jerome!

(P.S.: For those who haven't read it, I was referring to the 1st chapter of 'Three men in a boat' (http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext95/3boat10.txt). Read it!)

Best Practices of Telugu weddings

I have uploaded a few files in group page. The main document is 'Best Practices of Telugu Brahmin weddings', which contains in itself all the other documents that I have uploaded there. The document includes re-usable artifacts (sorry, cant help the IT jargon) like detailed marriage schedule, invitee lists and my own observations of common errors. The document is obviously not comprehensive- please feel free to add/subtract. Ranga babai- you should be able to use some of those docs, hopefully.
