summer adults

one summer Bhargavi and myself were so much deeply engrossed in our gossiping that at 4.00 clock in the evening we were startled to realise that the top 4 kids were not given food since morning and the tail spark is that THEY did not feel hungry too .
IMAGINE BHARGAVI FORGETTING KIDS!!!

Hey Poonam

Here is a greeting for you.
May this year be highly productive!

Happy Birthday Seenu

Many happy returns of the day.

SUMMER VACATIONS-3

No rich coconut chutney breakfasts for us! A big plate (usually used to make pulihora) full of rice
(freshly coked in the morning- about 1 kg) and some chintakaya pachadi was the breakfast-or may be gongoora or avakai. Some kids( we the outsiders) were given ghee while the local talent was given oil in the pachadi annam.
Sai was the marketing specialist ie he used to go to the market to buy vegetables. I was his assistant. The secret is that we used to knock off 4 annas as our commission ( good business sense prompted us into this step as there was no accounting--just hand over the vegetables and some change--about costs etc.--no askers, no tellers.) We used to go to a local eaterie-hotel is too dignified name for it-just near our house. It was in the Bazaar street. There were nelaballalu
(planks on the ground) and we were served hot idlies and coconut chutney (there you go mruduls and madhav) at 1/2 anna each. ie 8 idlies for the 4 anna commission. we used to enjoy the ill gotten idlies and they tasted wonderful as some guilty excitement was also added. weren't we such good boys!!!
An occasional flick was thrown in and for it we had to knock off 12 annas. (6 annas each for the bench class) It had to be a matinee and the adults never knew that we were missing for 3 hrs in the afternoon. The other kids did know but they never complained as going to the veg market at 7 am was too troublesome--that too on an empty stomach.
I'll continue this serial slowly-since this gives a glimpse of days gone by and lifestyles not seen and not existing now.

Summer vacations in kavali and the story behind the play!

That play was something :-)...

I remember my many summer vacations in kavali quite clearly....
It was 1hr maths in the morning with pedananna and another 1hr chemistry with peddamma...(thanks to her i still remember H stands for hydrogen!!)followed by english with saradatta..(atta i still remember the lesson "To Sir, With Love" and the grammar exercises)

Then it was tiffin time(used to and still love kavali chutneys....)

After that we could play:-)....
We played all kinds of games from cricket to business, from blind man's buff to chess(kanthanna always won though...I used to sweat like hell to save my pieces from getting killed and it was hardly an effort from his side!)

Pedamma had to shout herself hoarse to call us for lunch. After feeding us to dangerous belly bursting levels she used to take a nap...

We didnt know what to do in the afternoon and hence the "play"!Ranga Pedananna you were the real man behind the play:-)..it was you who wrote the punch dialogues for me and anna....(Vidyakka was having her exams and so could not be a part of it bavagaru, otherwise who would have dreamed of not including her!)
I still remember how important all of us felt that day:-)Durga peddamma took pains and arranged curtains for us..Narsimpedananna and gouri peddamma came, ranganadham pedananna cancelled the evening tuition hours - all exclusively for the play!!

The play was enacted well and - I hate to admit this but - lavi's accent was "quite" good. The euphoria lasted for an entire week!

I still remember how i started crying when nanna came to pick me up as the vacation was over....
I seriously miss that phase of my life and those sunny days...

Thanks pedananna for reviving all those sweet memories!

"THANK YOU"

thanks evrybody for wishing and blessing me on my birthday.......
special thanks to ranganadham pedananna and krupakar anna for having revived such sweet old memories......
i am very happy to have recieved such awesome comments from narsimham pedananna and sasi anna.......
thanks to madhav bava for having chosen my birthday as an occasion to make his appearance in the blog......
another pleasant SURPRISE for you all.......today i recieved a cheque of 30,000rs/- as a scholarship for my performance in intermediate from icici......
i promise to give a treat when we all meet.......
once again i thank you all......

Aloha !!!!

Aloha !!

I guess this is my first post to the blog..I just want to share beautuiful memories of our Hawaii trip during the long weekend(July 2nd - 7th).Truly an unforgettable experience, I must say !! We could only visit 3
Islands out of 8 important islands... Here is the the trip summary..

7/2:It was a 7.5hrs direct flight from Denver to Maui. Checked in hotel and rested for the whole day...

7/3:Haleakala Sunrise: We wokeup at aroud 2.45am to get ready for an amazing sunrise at Haleakala summit which is 10,000ft above sea level. Started at around 3.15am, reached the summit at around 4.30am. It was very cold out there, probably around 40F. I stepped out the car to capture few snaps, but not lucky enough at this dark.I guess sunrise was around 5.40am. There was huge crowd gathering to visit the beautiful sunrise popping out over the cloud. It was truly a beauty !!An native hawaiian sang a song which is a sacred thing for them. There is an ancient story behind the Sun, Haleakala and the song. Pls google it for more details, if you wish to know..
Later at noon, We dived into the ocean to a depth of 124ft...No kidding..it was a Submarine trip. It was a new
experience. Watched some eagle fish, and whole lot of other beautiful fishes...

7/3, 7/4: Kaua'i Island:We took an evening interisland flight to kauai, and checked in hotel at night..Booked a day tour in Kauai. We visited Waimea canyon which is also called as canyon of pacific, and on the way watched blow holes near the shore. Headed to waileua river cruise. The guide told that 'the bridge on river kuai' was filmed at this location., but couldn't verify this info from wiki...It was a relaxed river cruise. Back to maui in the night.

7/5 : Maui - Road to Hana tour. The most scenic drive called Hana hwy. We visited blue ocean,Lush rain forest, very narrow roads, some spring waterfalls, ponds etc etc...nature rich tour..enjoyed much.

7/6 : Big Island tour.We visited mostly volcanic region, craters, black sand beaches etc.. Due to enough sunlight we couldn't notice the red live lava flowing into the ocean, just got glimpse of fumes.

7/7 : MauiBack to Maui. Checked out the hotel and visited few places on our own, such as IOA needle, beautiful water falls, and headed towards kanapaali beach for parasailing. Floating over the pacific was an unique experience and tour guy managed to bring us down to touch the water, that was awesome...fortunately no whales/sharks found in this region :-) !

Here we come to end of our trip ! returned back to Denver on 7/8 morning, and back to work :-((

I bet our beautiful hawaii experience will remain in our thoughts for many more years...

The Vishnu Conversation

Bed time - I am reading "Tales of Vishnu" to Aditya and reading "Gajendra Moksham". A sample of conversation from Aditya.
"Vishnu is also called Narayana. His other name is Hari. Hari also means Monkey. Narada asked for a face of Hari and he got a Monkey face."
Believe me, I did not tell him this. He read "Tales of Narada" by himself and found this out. Of course, knowledge must be shared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
