Off to China

Road trip to Srirangapatnam!
Dear Singampalli viewers,
Here are a few lines about our sigthseeing trip with Sasi and Madhurima on Sunday the 17th of May.
We wanted to visit Sri Rangapatnam to have a darshan of Sri Ranganathana Swamy and also to see a bird sanctuary nearby. First we went to the temple. But just then it was closed, as the time was past 1 o' clock. So we then went to Ranganthittu where the Sanctuary is.
On the way, Sasi bought caps (made of Vattiverulu) for Krupa and Poonam, which you can see in the photographs. By the way, it was a sunny day. The shop-waala said it will be cooling if you sprinkle water over the caps while wearing.
There is a lake with tree-islands and surrounding trees and bushes, nice greenery. There are rowing boats with top-shade. There is a queue to get into the boat. We waited for half-an-hour for our turn. There were some foreigners also.
As we passed along the banks, we could see many cranes mainly and some pelicans, making quacking sounds. Some were doing Konga japam, some were quarelling, some were flying over the trees across the lake. Sasi had captured some of the scenic beauty with his camera. Of course, we had snaps of ourselves also.
There are fish also in the lake. But one alarming thing to me and maybe to Madhurima also, to get into the water was, there were crocodiles also in the lake (not big ones). At first, I did not believe when Krupakar told about it. But when I actually saw them in the waters, I wondered why they were kept where people were moving over the same waters. Anyway, they were not coming towards the boat- seemed to be ignoring or were used to the boats. We came out and stepped through the greenery around for some time, taking snaps. Later, we stopped under a shade to finish our lunch karyakramam. Of course, we came with nice home made items- pulihara, perugannam and fruits.
Afterwards, we started back to the temple. It is an old temple with nice carvings. We took darshan of Seshatalpa Sayi Vishnu. The river Cauveri is flowing behind the temple. There are steps to get into the river. As not so much depth is there, people were walking across the waters.Along the width of the river, small rocky islands were there, on which people were seen sitting. We took some snaps there also.
Just then, raindrops started falling, and we started back home in the car.

Sasi Madhurima Bangalore Trip
Finallly they visited Bangalore along with Amma. We went to Ranganthittu (bird sancturary), Srirangapatnam and Lal Bagh. Very nice places- photos below.

Prarapa Impact
I disagree. You can see that they got 15% of the vote, which made a huge impact in how much TDP was able to gain. The anti-incumbent vote split quite a bit. If there was no PRP, TDP might have gained more seats, unseating congress in AP.

So what did he achieve? a measly 1 1/2 dozen seats and nothing to look forward to. All the crores have been gobbled by others. And he is left holding the baby. As you rightly observed at that time, NTR's case and time were different and the circumstances were ripe for a new party. Not any more.

Peace and war?
I introduced Poonam to online Scrabble a few weeks ago. Although she is more of a Sudoku person, her interest picked up when I let her win a couple of games. Gradually, her involvement grew to a level that she wanted to play every day with me. So on most evenings, we sit next to each other with our respective laptops and play Scrabble on a distant server, although we have the board game version of Scrabble at home. Quite weird.
This healthy (so I thought) competition reached a peak this weekend. After losing repeatedly to me over Saturday, she grew more and more angry. Her expression became grim and her nostrils started flaring big time. After tossing about restlessly all night, she shook me awake early on Sunday AM and thrust the laptop into my hands. My pleas fell on deaf ears and she lost some more games.
Finally, with dishevelled hair and bloodshot eyes, she said to me through set teeth, and I quote verbatim, “I am going to beat you today. I am not going to sleep without beating you. If that means we have to play through the night, I don’t care. And stop scratching that damn fungus”. Slightly intimidated, I stopped the thoughtful stroking of my beard (yes, I have a beard now, and it is a real classic).
I decided that enough was enough. I took a call to ease off the assault. One might even say,instead of letting myself loose, I decided to let myself lose. And so, at midnight, she finally won a game. In the morning, she got up late and gloated to me that she slept very well and had pleasant dreams about her victory.
Is there something like a 4 year marriage milestone after which the very sight of a husband brings out the violent side of the wife? Or is this unique to my excessively competitive wife?

Book reco?
Krupa, you seem to have every 'in' management book on your list of books to read :) Joking apart, what is a good management book to read nowadays? Specially for people in the tech industry like us.
Also wanted to know if you can recommend a good general management book or books. I have a reportee who is a good operations manager but seems to be missing parts of the big picture. Nothing major, just a matter of being a bit more of a sophisticated manager. I want her to do some general management reading and expand her horizons, so to say.

I beg to disagree. There will be some impact, whether a split assembly or political wheeling and dealing by congress. What is the most likely outcome? He doesn't have the Charisma of NTR, and his party is not the only alternative, as it was with Telugu Desam, when NTR launched it. But he might succeed in splitting the votes in Costa and possibly be the king maker in the case of a hung assembly.
What would you say is the future for TRS?
