Where in the world is Vidya Madhuri?

I know this place exists , but I seldom get any contact from there. Must be part of a lost world.

Universal Studios

We all went to LA last weekend. Aditya, IS, SSV and Amma went to Disneyland on Friday, while I spent the day at Disney headquarters telling them how they can improve their online game toontown.com

Saturday, we all went to Universal Studios.

We went on a 45 minute tour of Universal Studio, where we saw the set for King Kong, plane wreckage site from war of the worlds, the Bates house and motel from Hitchcock's Psycho, the "ocean" and the shark from jaws, the parting "sea" from ten commandments and experienced an 8.5 magnitude earthquake.

Success Atlast!

Kuppanna and Poonam succeeded in capturing the ghost that was haunting the tourists in this sea-side castle in Ireland for eons. Here is the proof in black & white, or rather, in color.

Taata Bodi, Nanna Bochu

I am trying to teach Telugu to Aditya. So, I called him "bodi". Apparently, he knows what bodi means( means no hair). So he asked what do you say when someone has hair. His dad told him "bochu". His next words were, "Oh, so Tata is Bodi and you are Bochu!!!!!!!!!"

How I won a gold in the Olympic 100m dash!

Wii Rules!!!!!

My newest Wii game is the Olympic games. So far I won golds in 100m dash and 100m freestyle swimming. I totally sucked at TT and shooting. Keep checking back for the medals tally. It is the least I could do for India.

With no disrespect to the MDs in the family :-)

From Ogden Nash, the Wodehouse of Poetry...

Common Cold

Go hang yourself, you old M.D.!
You shall not sneer at me.
Pick up your hat and stethoscope,
Go wash your mouth with laundry soap;
I contemplate a joy exquisite
I'm not paying you for your visit.
I did not call you to be told
My malady is a common cold.

By pounding brow and swollen lip;
By fever's hot and scaly grip;
By those two red redundant eyes
That weep like woeful April skies;
By racking snuffle, snort, and sniff;
By handkerchief after handkerchief;
This cold you wave away as naught
Is the damnedest cold man ever caught!

Give ear, you scientific fossil!
Here is the genuine Cold Colossal;
The Cold of which researchers dream,
The Perfect Cold, the Cold Supreme.
This honored system humbly holds
The Super-cold to end all colds;
The Cold Crusading for Democracy;
The Führer of the Streptococcracy.

Bacilli swarm within my portals
Such as were ne'er conceived by mortals,
But bred by scientists wise and hoary
In some Olympic laboratory;
Bacteria as large as mice,
With feet of fire and heads of ice
Who never interrupt for slumber
Their stamping elephantine rumba.

A common cold, gadzooks, forsooth!
Ah, yes. And Lincoln was jostled by Booth;
Don Juan was a budding gallant,
And Shakespeare's plays show signs of talent;
The Arctic winter is fairly coolish,
And your diagnosis is fairly foolish.
Oh what a derision history holds
For the man who belittled the Cold of Colds!

Amma and Clorox

mma attended the Women In Leadership conference at Berkeley. She met Beth Springer, Vice President of Strategy for Clorox company. She sat on the health care panel and grilled the VP of Abbott Laboratories about Cardiac Stents. Poor lady did not know what hit her and left the conference confused.

Nenu Ninda Cake Khaali

We went out to dinner at Olive Garden, or as Aditya says it, "that pasta place where we get breadsticks". He had a full 6 course dinner with Cocktail, Salad, Bread, Pasta entree and cake & fruit for dessert.

After pasta his "potta" was "ninda", but there was "cake khalee".

In his words, "Nenu Ninda, Cake Khalee"

This is more like it. But, methinks, it is a bad composition. We need to add 2 more additions too, don't you think?

The Family Photo

Unfortunately we could never get everyone together for a family photo. if it was one missing at some point, then it was another some other time( confused?). Notice that Manasa and Sumana are missing here. Now we cannot get my father and brother into it.Well, that is life, never the way you want it!

Krupakar's Mumbai Marathon Story

Half Marathoning through Mumbai
The great thing about completing a Marathon (42 KM) is probably the sheer physical enormity of the achievement. Like climbing the Everest, it requires painstaking preparation and a relentless consumption of the miles before one crosses the finish line. I wouldn't really know- I haven't attempted a marathon, and for sure I haven't climbed the Everest.

But you don't have to do the run to appreciate the achievement, that's the point.

It is a lot tougher to describe why I feel good about completing a half marathon (21 KM)- it doesn't come with the clear stamp of a full marathon. Why I feel good about it is mostly to do with the specific place and event- the Mumbai marathon. Very well organized and imbued with great sprit, this event must rate among the best marathon events of the world.

The event is usually on the 3rd weekend of January every year and hosts a variety of runs- full, half, dream, veteran and for the physically challenged. It gets more publicity every year and also grows more popular (not necessarily cause and effect always!). There are similar runs in other metros (there is even a midnight run in Bangalore), but they haven't caught fire like this one has. There are multiple reasons for this, which I can best describe in context of my own experiences there. So here goes.

Aditya's Telugu Rhymes

Viswam babai sent a telugu rhymes DVD to Aditya, so now we have to endure "burru pitta" and "chuk chuck railu" two times a day, everyday.
