Kavali is known for whole sale cloth business. The volume is very large and may be 2nd in A.P. (Jawahar Bharathi college, established by great visionary D.R.,with all India credentials, is the only other reason Kavali is known all over).Some merchants wanted to build a complex of 200 shops called”annapurna cloth market” on co-operative basis and started construction. As usual, it was surrounded with controversies; construction stopped with people going to court.SRM was representing one of parties. The cases went on and on and mean while SRM retired voluntarily at 60 (“you in service have retirement age, but not us. I don’t have a desire to continue after 60”) though he had a very prosperous practice. Then he went to angalakuduru ashram and was living there. Local M.L.A. Yanadi reddy intervened in the dispute and worked out a compromise between the quarreling merchants.
When the documents are to be presented in court, the opposing party wanted only SRM to prepare them, made several trips to angalakuduru, and persuaded him to do it.
